Why “Good Enough” Isn’t Good Enough for Me (And What’s Next for Wheatbelt Strength)
In business, it’s very easy to reach a point where things are going fine and just… stay there. You’re not adding anything new, but you’re not taking anything away. Clients trickle in, clients trickle out, and you hold steady at a baseline that keeps the lights on, the rent paid, and groceries in the fridge.
And honestly? For many people, that’s exactly what they want - a consistent, predictable rhythm. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But for some of us, that just isn’t enough.
The Drive to Keep Growing
I’ve talked with my husband about this a lot. He’s the kind of person who accidentally ends up in leadership roles simply because people gravitate toward him. He never aims to be in charge - he just has that energy. And, hilariously, I seem to have the same gene.
In my previous corporate jobs, I’d be in a role with the same title as someone next to me, yet somehow I’d end up training them. Not because I was chasing leadership, but because I was good at the job and had been doing it longer (even if I hated it at the time).
That same pattern has followed me into business ownership: I’m just… never done.
Sometimes I wonder if there will ever come a point where I sit back and say, “Yep, this runs itself now.” But the truth is, my brain doesn’t work that way. I’m constantly asking:
What can we refine?
What needs improving?
Where’s the next opportunity to grow?
And honestly? I’ve made peace with that being who I am.
From Imposter Syndrome to Confident Leadership
When I first started coaching out of the Rec Centre - long before Wheatbelt Strength had its own space - I was on an absolute upskilling bender. Every course, every workshop, every qualification I could find… I did it.
Partly because I genuinely love learning.
Partly because I was deep in imposter syndrome and terrified someone would ask a question I couldn’t answer.
Fast forward six years and that’s shifted. I’m confident in what I know, excited by what I don’t know, and no longer panicked about proving myself.
Now the energy is different:
The drive isn’t about me. It’s about improving the business.
LEVELLING Up the Gym - Physically and Professionally
We recently signed our lease for another two years, and because of that we’ve been able to complete a huge wave of upgrades to our space. Renovations, layout changes, new equipment - the kind of improvements that genuinely transform how the gym feels and functions.
🔧 Renovations & Space Improvements Completed
Expanded and relocated the wall rig
New flooring and tiles
Updated banners and decor
A more open, spacious layout
A better flow for both classes and open gym
That extra space gives us more flexibility: overlapping classes, smoother transitions between sessions, and increased capacity without sacrificing personal attention.
It honestly gave me teenage-bedroom-rearranging levels of joy.
📈 Staff Development & New Coaches Onboarded
We also completed a big push on professional development:
Weekly staff coaching + mentoring
Technical movement training
Consistency around class structure, timing, and communication
Translating 1:1 coaching standards into a fast-paced group setting
And with that process came a huge win - our new coaches are now fully onboarded and running classes. Watching them step confidently into their roles has been a proud moment for everyone.
The team has been incredibly receptive, and seeing their skills sharpen week by week has reaffirmed why this work matters.
Looking Ahead to January 2026
Now that the physical upgrades and staff onboarding phase is complete, the next stage is about momentum.
January 2026 is shaping up to be one of our most exciting starts to a year yet:
A refreshed space
A stronger, more confident coaching team
More class capability thanks to improved layout and flow
Members returning after the holidays ready to take on new goals
A community that feels energised and inspired
It genuinely feels like everything is aligning - not rushed, not chaotic, just the natural next chapter of growth.
So What’s Next?
Over the coming weeks and into early 2026, expect to see:
New programming options emerging from increased capacity
Continued coach development and technical refinement
More opportunities for members to train, learn, and progress
Additional small-space upgrades as we settle into the new layout
Wheatbelt Strength has always been about more than barbells and burpees. It’s about evolution - of people, of confidence, of community. And I’m committed to making this space better every single year.
Stay tuned. The next chapter is only just beginning.
